<note>ABSTRACT

Radio is one of the conventional mass media that has great power in
disseminating information that is different from other mass media, which is direct
and does not recognize distance and time. Radio can also be heard anywhere and
anytime and has high appeal and imagination because the nature of its broadcast
is created by the broadcaster's cometar music, as well as the effects used (Effendi,
1981).Radio has a broadcast program turning ideas into sound scripts into a real
result of these ideas. Basically the production of radio broadcast programs is a
sound creation guide that is able to evoke emotions, imagination and suggestions
of listeners with a series of words from the announcer, sound or music and sound
effects which become a unit for, therefore in radio media a radio broadcast
program strategy is needed to maintain the existence of radio media, especially
among Radio Republik Indonesia in the Palembang Region. The results of the
research are descriptions or elaborations of the results of observations and
interviews that have been carried out by researchers during the research process
while the results of this research are as follows: The ability of a radio program to
maintain its existence can be achieved because the human resources managing
the program can actualize and maximize their potentials by implementing a
strategy. One of the strategies considered capable of making a radio program
attract the attention of listeners, so that the program can last a long time is
implementing a program strategy, namely a series of stages used in compiling and
preparing the program. The program strategy applied to the thematic study
program consists of program planning, program production, program execution,
and program evaluation.
